THE CENTER FOR RESEARCH AND DOCUMENTATION OF THE PONTIFICATE OF POPE JOHN PAUL II

The Center collects all documentation related to the person and activities of the Holy Father. It gathers papal documents and books, albums, and publications from around the world. It collects coins, postage stamps, photographs, videos, CDs, and audiotapes. The museum collection includes gifts received by the Pope, especially from Poles, during papal audiences and on papal trips. This collection includes almost 10,000 items representing every form of art, personal and national memorabilia, and manuscripts that are presented to the Holy Father knowing that his are most worthy hands to receive them. The Center promotes research on the subject of the teachings of the Holy Father by sponsoring symposiums, exhibits, and publishing books. The Center's library has 30,000 volumes which are available to scholars researching the teachings of John Paul II. These include: books by the Holy Father; books by scholars commenting on the creative work of Karol Wojtyla—John Paul II; scholarly works on the subject of the teachings of John Paul II; and books dedicated to the Holy Father by their authors.
